Cicadidae is a sci-fi psychological horror about you. You've always lived in this town, always known the machine that sits in the middle of the lake that the town surrounds like mushrooms around a rotting stump. You don't think that stopping the yearly sacrifices is a good idea.
Cicadidae is a little over 4500 words and contains mention of heavy topics and gore.

'The machine was cruel in its comfort. You didn’t trust it to be compassionate in hunger.' (page 2) holy shit!!!!! the last few pages were incredible i love this so much especially as someone with severe chronic pain and depression
